Reconstruction/Singapore/Completed 2013
While maintaining a certain portions of the existing house structures, we managed to reconfigure the spaces of the house to suit the new needs of an extended family. We leveled the existing 1st storey so that spatially it is better connected between the living and dining room which is separated by a landscape water feature that meanders in between.
The double volume space above the water feature acts like a airwell but open on one sides, this allows the rooms around the airwell to be brighter, especially the family room on the 2nd floor. The quality of the lights when it turns into the airwell is softer and better filtered.
